Unhappy moving to costa rica

Hi

I'm moving soon to Costa Rica and I moving few boxes only:

book boxes 1.5cft x 10 = 15 cft
medium boxes 3cft x 5 = 15cft
large boxes 4.5cft x 3 = 13.5cft
dish pack 5cft x 3 = 15 cft

total of 58.5 cft.

my question when I would like to ship to them to Costa Rica so why I need to pay to the international movers around 70 to 80 cft.
most movers told me that crate is necessary for this kind of move

can you please explain to how come I will end up pay more for my shipment? and why I can not ship my boxes as is.

Izzy

Izzy,

No matter if your shipping these items by ocean or air, all the boxes need to be put together to be placed in one or 2 larger boxes/crates. The reason for this is that these items are either going to be trucked, flown or shipped and needs to be able to be forked lift handled and not each individual box.

So they are going to take your smaller boxes and put them into either a card board or wooden larger container and shipped that way.

Hope this helps you understand what is going on.

Mike

Izzy,

Mike is absolutely correct.

Also note that you will be charged on the actual gross volume of the crate/box used to transport the goods, thus the 70-80 cuft. quotation. Also note that shipping individual cartons lends itself to a great possibility of loss, since all your cartons will be travelling as a single piece, it is easier to manage and track.

Buena suerte,

Manny

Default moving Costa Rica packing tips

hi Izzy

I have more simple example:

when you writing a letter you will need send the paper just like that.....you will need an envelope to do so.

consider your boxes to the paper and the crate to envelope
