Default Moving to Italy - Deposit question

Moving to Italy - Deposit question

Can you please tell me more details about Deposit?

I read someplace not to give any deposit to the international movers. And what can do I get my deposit in case of canceling?

There are no standard or set policies regarding deposits. Most deposits are non refundable but it also depends on the size of shipment your having. Most Intl movers are going to require a deposit when you book the move if your using a steel container and then balance will be due before the shipment leaves the origin warehouse.

For example, we have a $300 non refundable deposit when a person books an intl move with us. Just investigate thouroughly what the companies deposit policy is and be aware of it.

Hope this helps!

Mike

Default Deposit and canceling

Hi

Once your make a booking with international movers a date to pick up and ship your household either in a crate or container, you actually make the well oil machine get going: booking and moving truck and the men power for packing and loading, booking the container with the steamship lines. All of that require man power and money of course.

Try to put yourself instead of the international moving and you will understand that once you cancel the booking date is cost damage to the movers: the moving day is reserve to you move and once you cancel it – you cost the moving companies some loss.

I think deposit anywhere between $300 to $500 nonrefundable is fair for both sides. Customer must understand that international moving companies would like to provide A class service, however, they can not do what ever they want: booking date and than to cancel it without any fee.

Once you fell comfortable with the moving company there is not reason to cancel.

Dear Nicolas,

Dan pretty much summed it all up. Shipping involves lots of money before the move commence. There cases were people get confused and make bookings with several companies, and who ever shows up first on the move date, gets the job...and what happens to the other movers...they loose out. Thus it is only fair to charge a deposit. The amount usually is based on the size of the move and $500 is normal and accetable. Moreover, make sure to check the refrences along with BBB record, and make sure that they are licensed as NVOCC by the FMC, the location and review recommendations.
