Default Moving pieces of estate from US to Canada

Hello,

I am not actually moving to Canada (as I already live here). Instead, I am looking to hire movers to ship certain pieces of furniture and personal items bequeathed to me from their current location in the US. In total, it may be about enough to furnish a single room. How can I get an accurate estimate of the costs involved? Do I have to pay customs on any of these things (they are not new)?

In particular, I am describing a full dining room suite, and possibly 2 small pieces of furniture (side-table size), and about 3 regular size moving boxes. How much space is required? How can I estimate weight?

Thank you very much.

Default Moving to Canada

hi

there is 2 issues here:

1) the volume of your shipment
2) customs

about the volume: in this site we install cubic feet calculator, so you can calculate your self the amount. I took the exact sheet that all movers uses and add to it features such as print and you can see you weight of your shipment ( 7 pound per cubic feet is the average) and also can see how much cubic meter you have.

you will get very good idea in terms of size.

in terms of customs: moving companies will provide you a general information it terms of customs. governments changing their regulations. I strongly suggest you to contact your local embassy and visit official website for updates.

good luck

Dan
